Arriving at our hostel, we thought we were in for a shell shock. A shitty old building, no reception, a tiled floor with 2 years of dust on it and just a sign in the foyer saying "WAKE UP! CAIRO HOSTEL, Level 7". But we were wrong, even tho this hostel was located on the 7th level of a run down old building, it was a breath of fresh air. Thank god. haha The guy who ran the place was heaps of help and thats hard to find in Cairo as everyone is after your money. The people hassel you until you basically have to yell at them to go away and evenwhen someone just seems like they are offering you a helping hand to find where you are going, they arent, they want money off you.
Finding a place to eat in Cairo is difficult. We spent hours looking for somewhere to eat, the main problem wasnt finding a place that served food, but most places were like guys clubs and with the difference in the male / female standards in Cairo, it was hard to judge if Suzie and I were going to be welcome in there. So resorted to hitting up a shopping center for a feed on the first few days.

It was actually ridiculously nice! They came with the heads still on and was hard to get alot of meat off them, obviously because they were like 1/4 the size of a chicken haha. It pretty much just tasted like chicken to.
And YES! That is a pigeon skull in my mouth hahaha

The lonely planet does help, but the restaurants are quite far away from each other. Also, make sure you read your lonely planet in your hostel and in restaurants, dont pull it out in the street because you get swarmed by people wanting to help you, FOR MONEY.
We also found out quickly, that breakfast's consist of a hard boiled egg, cheese triangles and 3 bread rolls. Egg, Cheese & Bread / Pita are pretty standard breakfasts everywhere we went.
Traffic in Cairo is fuckin insane. They have 2 marked lines, by the traffic is constantly 3 lanes, theres no Police around, but a shit load of army presence. Road rules dont seem to exist, its just lots of horn beeping to let everyone know where your at, then push your way to where you want to go. And weirdly, we didnt see any traffic accidents, or pedestrians hit by any cars even tho they just walk infront of cars to get accross traffic.

Giza
Pyramid acton
Pyramid acton

Driving to Giza, the tour guide told us to look out the right side of the bus and this is what we saw. Grass, tree's, high rise apartments and Pyramids. Its totally unreal and hard to believe what you are seeing.
The Pyramid site was pretty funny, but got annoying pretty quick. Lots of guys offering to give me a few thousand camels to take Suzie off my hands. 100 people trying to flog you off post cards of the Pyramids for 1 Eyptian Pound (25 cents) and guys saying "Camel ride" and when you say "no thankyou" asking you where your

Donkey Rides!
To the Valley of the Kings, Hoo Ha!
To the Valley of the Kings, Hoo Ha!
I cant say that i wanted to hop on a donkey from fear of breaking the poor lil fellas back, but the tour leader Mostafa promised us all that they could handle our weight and we would be paired up with donkeys to suit our height and stature so I unwillingly agreed to get on one.
Holy shit, hahaha riding a donkey for an hour to the Valley of the Kings was awsome. My donkeys name was Tar Tar, he was an old fella and didnt seem to have much patience. I was only on him for around 2 minutes until he had bitten 2 other donkeys in the throat hahahaha
To the right, we see Tar Tar, what a donkey!
(The reason the photo was taken so close is because when i lent down to take the photo, he tried to attack me haha)
Tar Tar wouldnt speed up unless someone was trying to over take him, then he would race ahead and slow down to walking pace. Damn your old fragile legs!
Suzies donkey on the other hand was at such a good steady pace that she was ahead for the whole trip. Her donkey would randomly stop, eat some bushes and then race off when other donkeys got to close hahahahaha
Suzies donkey is seen to the left. What a tramp of a donkey. Look at that stupid bow. Stupid winning donkey. Probably has fleas.
