Beer Reviews - Egypt

Meister Max
Subsidiary of Heineken brewed in the A.R.E

Style: Lager
% of Alcohol: 8%
Size / Can or Bottle: 330ml Can
Was served: Semi Cold

Price: 12-16 Egyptian Pounds / $4-5 AUS

Considering the percentage of alcohol I was expecting a heavier or more full on taste but, this was a nice smooth lager with a creamyish flavor and has a slight spirit styled after taste tang in the back of the throat.

Score: 7.5 / 10

Stella
Subsidiary of Heineken brewed in the A.R.E

Style: Lager
% of Alcohol: 4.5%
Size / Can or Bottle: 500ml Bottle
Was served: Ice Cold

Price: 8-12 Egyptian Pounds / $2-4 AUS

Stella (not to be mistaken with Stella Artois) has been locally brewed in Egypt for over 100 years. It has smooth lager taste with very hoppy flavors, but overall there’s not much going on and is quite bland. Just a easy drinking, cheap, local lager. Good drinking for people on a tight budget, but given a choice it wouldn’t be my first pick at a liquor store.

Score: 5.5 / 10

Sakara Gold

Style: Lager
% of Alcohol: 4%
Size / Can or Bottle: 500ml Can
Was served: Semi Cold

Price: 10-14 Egyptian Pounds / $2.5-3.5 AUS

Very light in taste (bland), just a plain lager along the same lines as the local Stella. Still quite smooth and very easy drinking on a 40 degree Cairo late afternoon.

Score: 6 / 10
